As an alternative to Columbus Day join us to celebrate and honor the first people to inhabit the Catskills by visiting several Manitou Hassennech (spirit stones) sites, consisting of dry stacked stone cairns, stone rows, effigies and aligned boulders, all expressing and ancient, sophisticated belief system. Wear proper footwear and clothing for a fall hike and appropriate for the forecast. Bring lunch or a snack and water. Meet at Woodstock Community Center parking lot, Rock City Rd. Woodstock. Driving Directions: From Thruway Exit 19 in Kingston take SR 28 west 6 miles to right on Rt. 375. Go 3 miles to left on Rt. 212. Go 0.5 miles to right on Rock City Rd. and then 0.3 miles to Community Center parking lot on right.
